Finance Associate
Our client, a technology-focused investment firm specializing in emerging industries, is seeking a Finance Associate. This position offers exposure to cutting-edge technologies and the opportunity to work closely with experienced leadership on fund reporting, audits, and operational processes. The role also involves supporting finance-related projects and contributing to the development of AI technologies to enhance internal operations. This position is hybrid, requiring candidates to be based in either San Francisco or New York, with two in-office days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Fund Reporting
    • Review quarterly reports prepared by the fund administrator for various funds.
    • Reconcile digital asset transactions against blockchain records.
    • Review and distribute investor capital statements.
    • Manage relationships with fund administrators.
  • Annual Audit
    • Review financial statements prepared by the fund administrator.
    • Coordinate with auditors to ensure timely issuance of audit reports.
    • Handle audit-related requests such as confirmations and transaction support.
  • Fund Operations
    • Oversee processes like capital calls, distributions, and investment funding.
    • Track investment data and valuations within proprietary systems.
    • Monitor expenses and propose cost-saving initiatives.
  • Assist with investor inquiries, SPV finance processes, and fund tax compliance.
  • Support ad-hoc analyses and strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, tax, or a related field.
  • 3-5+ years of asset management auditing or accounting experience, including at least 2 years in VC/PE.
  • CPA preferred; passing FAR & REG required.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and Excel/Google Sheets skills.
  • Self-starter with a proactive and collaborative approach.
  • Passion for technology, crypto, and/or AI is a plus.

Compensation
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure: $110K - $160K per year.
