Job description

Final Assembly Mechanic/Welder C, 2nd shift (Finance)

Responsibilities
  • Follow all safety regulations, maintain a clean work area, and wear appropriate safety attire at all times.
  • Weld components in various positions including flat, vertical, and overhead.
  • Ignite torches, start power supplies, and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, and bolt component parts to achieve required configurations.
  • Detect equipment faults or defective materials and notify supervisors.
  • Operate manual welding equipment, primarily MIG welding, to fuse steel segments.
  • Monitor welding processes to prevent overheating, warping, or distortion.
  • Inspect workpieces for defects and ensure they meet specifications.
  • Operate hand and power tools relevant to welding.
  • Lay out, position, align, and secure parts prior to assembly.
  • Use plasma cutters to cut steel to specifications.
  • Re-wire batteries and relocate air tanks as needed.
  • Cross-train in other assembly areas such as Electrical and Hydraulic.
  • Participate in Rapid Continuous Improvement events and support cost reduction initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Work Environment

Operate in a non-environmentally controlled setting with temperature extremes. PPE including earplugs, safety glasses, steel toe boots, welding helmets, gloves, and shields are required.

Education & Experience

High school diploma or GED required. Must hold Altec Weld Certification or have at least 6 months of assembly experience with the ability to become certified within 30 days.

Tools & Equipment

Use of hand tools, impact guns, measuring tapes, grinders, bolt machinery, overhead cranes, welding and cutting torches.

Knowledge & Skills

Ability to interpret blueprints, perform mathematical measurements, and demonstrate MIG welding skills. Mechanical knowledge is essential.

Certifications

Certified MIG Welder required.
