A leading company in North Carolina is seeking a Final Assembly Mechanic/Welder for the 1st shift. Qualifications

  • Cross-train in other areas such as Electrical and Hydraulic assembly.

Job description

Final Assembly Mechanic/Welder C, 1st shift (Finance)

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety regulations, including maintaining a clean work area and wearing appropriate safety gear.
  • Weld components in various positions (flat, vertical, overhead).
  • Ignite torches, start power supplies, and strike arcs to complete electrical circuits.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, and bolt component parts to achieve required configurations.
  • Detect equipment malfunctions or defective materials and notify supervisors.
  • Operate manual welding equipment using MIG welding process.
  • Monitor welding processes to prevent overheating, warping, or distortion of materials.
  • Inspect workpieces for defects and ensure they meet specifications.
  • Set up and operate hand and power tools related to welding.
  • Lay out, position, align, and secure parts prior to assembly.
  • Use plasma cutters to cut steel to specifications.
  • Re-wire batteries when moved to different locations on trucks.
  • Move air tanks from outside to inside of trucks.
  • Cross-train in other areas such as Electrical and Hydraulic assembly.
  • Participate in Rapid Continuous Improvement events and support cost reduction initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Work Environment

Operate in an environment that may lack climate control, with hot conditions in summer and cold in winter. PPE such as earplugs, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, welding helmets, gloves, and shields are required.

Education

High school diploma or GED required.

Experience

Must hold Altec Weld Certification or have at least 6 months of assembly experience with the ability to become certified within 30 days.

Tools and Equipment

Use hand tools, measuring devices, grinders, bolt machinery, overhead cranes, welding and cutting torches.

Knowledge and Skills

Understanding of dimensions, blueprints, schematics, MIG welding, and mechanical systems.

Certifications

Certified MIG welder.
