Job summary

Precision Castparts in Mentor, OH is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to oversee a production area, drive safety, quality and on-time delivery, and coach a team of 15–20 employees.

The role requires 1–3 years of supervisory experience, an associate degree in management or engineering (BS preferred), and a hands-on, results‑oriented leader who can work independently and with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one to three years of industrial supervisory or similar leadership experience.
• Minimum Associates degree in Management, Engineering or related disciplines; B.S. degree or equivalent preferred.
• Equivalent background would involve a minimum of five years casting operations experience with progressive responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective supervision and coaching to assigned employees (approximately 15–20) to achieve the required quality and production goals.
• Manage the movement of product through the production area; know where product is in the process at all times.
• Ensure standard operating procedures and engineering procedures are current and followed for maximum quality.
• Monitor the Operations safety program and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Maintain the high standard of housekeeping in the Operations department.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of all production processes and materials.
• Work with employees to resolve technical and personnel problems.
• Schedule employees to meet production needs and plan vacations per plant policies.
• Trouble shoot and provide cost effective resolutions to production problems.
• Organize work for smooth operations and ensure required documentation is maintained.
• Communicate issues to employees that affect the plant and provide shift-to-shift coordination.

Principal Area Of Responsibility

Responsible for the safe manufacture of company products which may represent a broad diversity of manufacturing processes. Responsible for satisfying all quality and productivity requirements in most cost effective manner. May supervise multiple functions and/or shifts typically but not exclusively through shift/department leads. Production Supervisor positions are responsible for a lesser span of control and/or require a lesser level of demonstrated expertise in manufacturing and process skills than an Area Manager

Specific Duties

• Manage the movement of product through the production area. Know where Product is in the process / at all times. Organizes work for smooth operations.
• Ensure that standard operating procedures and engineering procedures are current, accurate and that all work is done in compliance to ensure maximum quality.
• Monitor the Operations safety program and insure that all employees comply with safety regulations.
• Ensure that the Operations department’s high standard of housekeeping is met.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of all production processes and materials.
• Work with employees to resolve technical and personnel problems.
• Schedule employees to effectively meet production needs and to ensure vacation and other time off consistent with plant policies. Assist in candidate selection as requested.
• Trouble shoots and provides cost effective resolutions to production problems.
• Organizes work for smooth operations. Ensure that required documentation is maintained.
• Communicate to employees all issues that affect the plant.
• Provide the shift to shift communication link in order to keep all team members working toward the same goals.
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere.
• Perform other duties as determined by the area manager
• Any and all additional responsibilities as required or assigned.
