Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. in Mentor, Ohio seeks a Production Supervisor to oversee the safe manufacture of company products across multiple processes. You will supervise 15–20 staff, ensure quality and productivity targets, and maintain documentation and housekeeping.

Job Description

Education

Minimum Associates degree in Management, Engineering or related disciplines, B.S. degree or equivalent preferred. Equivalent background considered. Equivalent background would involve a minimum of five years casting operations experience with progressive responsibility.

Able to meet deadlines and be accountable for quality/ quantity. Able to work flexible hours with a history of dependability as demonstrated with strong attendance record. Comfortable using a team approach to problem solving. Have strong sense of urgency. Individual must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors.

Work Experience

Minimum of one to three years of industrial supervisory or similar leadership experience.

Principal Area of Responsibility

Responsible for the safe manufacture of company products which may represent a broad diversity of manufacturing processes. Responsible for satisfying all quality and productivity requirements in most cost effective manner. May supervise multiple functions and/or shifts typically but not exclusively through shift/department leads. Production Supervisor positions are responsible for a lesser span of control and/or require a lesser level of demonstrated expertise in manufacturing and process skills than an Area Manager

Specific Duties
  • Provide effective supervision and coaching to assigned employees (approximately 15-20) to achieve the required quality and production goals in a manner consistent with maintaining non union status. Maintain department records and inventories.
  • Manage the movement of product through the production area. Know where Product is in the process / at all times. Organizes work for smooth operations.
  • Ensure that standard operating procedures and engineering procedures are current, accurate and that all work is done in compliance to ensure maximum quality.
  • Monitor the Operations safety program and insure that all employees comply with safety regulations.
  • Ensure that the Operations department's high standard of housekeeping is met.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all production processes and materials.
  • Work with employees to resolve technical and personnel problems.
  • Schedule employees to effectively meet production needs and to ensure vacation and other time off consistent with plant policies. Assist in candidate selection as requested.
  • Trouble shoots and provides cost effective resolutions to production problems.
  • Organizes work for smooth operations. Ensure that required documentation is maintained.
  • Communicate to employees all issues that affect the plant.
  • Provide the shift to shift communication link in order to keep all team members working toward the same goals.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere.
  • Perform other duties as determined by the area manager
  • Any and all additional responsibilities as required or assigned.
