Job summary

Leggett & Platt, Inc. in Kouts, Indiana, is seeking a Filter Press Operator to operate and maintain a filter press as part of our Merit Steel team. You will monitor tanks, operate pumps, and ensure safety and continuity in a heavy manufacturing environment. The role includes calibration of meters, logging readings, and keeping work areas clean.

The shift is 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on a 2-2-3 schedule, with weekly rotation.

Qualifications

• Must be organized and able to multi-task.

• Committed to following established procedures to eliminate preventable mistakes and maintain high standards.
• At least one-year operating machinery in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

• Acknowledge, assess, and react to system/process alarms to ensure safety and continuity.
• Maintain equipment, including cleaning the refrigeration coil, de-sludge, refill and charge acid tubs.
• Calibrate pH meters and log readings.
• Clean filter press and designated work areas.
• Perform tasks assigned by Supervisor, prioritizing safety above all else.

We are seeking a Filter Press Operator to join our team at our Merit Steel location in Kouts, Indiana. This role will be responsible for operating and maintaining a filter press that separates and removes impurities from our industrial process.

So, what will you be doing as a Filter Press Operator?

• Responsible for start up and shut down of filter press system.
• Responsible for monitoring and operating sulfate and recovery tanks.
• Operate and maintain pumps.
• Promptly acknowledge, assess, and react to system/process alarms to ensure safety and continuity.
• Responsible for maintaining equipment, including cleaning the refrigeration coil, de-sludge, refill and charge acid tubs.
