Job summary

NXP Semiconductors in Austin, TX seeks an Equipment Engineer to identify and reduce machine faults, source and install new equipment, and drive defect reduction and tool availability. You will define maintenance procedures and train technicians while supporting Lean and Six-Sigma initiatives.

Ideal candidates have a BS in engineering and 5+ years in high-volume semiconductor equipment engineering, with experience in Applied Materials platforms and strong data analysis skills.

Qualifications

  • BS in an engineering discipline; Mechanical desirable.
  • 5 years’ experience in equipment engineering in high-volume semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Experience with AM tooling/processing platforms and data-driven problem solving.
  • Strong communication and training ability.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and reduce recurrent machine faults.
  • Source and install new equipment.
  • Reduce defectivity and cost; improve tool utilization.
  • Define tool maintenance procedures and training.
  • Develop specifications and participate in lean/ Six-Sigma activities.

Job Summary
  • Identification and reduction of recurrent machine faults
  • Sourcing and installing new equipment
  • Reducing defectivity
  • Defining tool maintenance procedures

  • Supporting development activities
  • Developing and writing specifications
  • Implementation of Six‑Sigma statistical process control methods

  • Participating in and/or leading cross‑functional and lean activity teams
Job Qualifications
  • BS in an engineering discipline, Mechanical Engineering desirable.
  • 5 years’ experience in equipment engineering in a high‑volume semiconductor manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience in at least one or more of the following tools/processes required: Applied Materials Producer, Applied Materials Centura.
  • Experience in Applied Materials Endura, Ultima, and RTA platforms is a plus.
  • Ability to generate, analyze, and interpret equipment performance data and produce a timely action plan to resolve recurring equipment failures.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills. Candidate will be called upon to train others and present complex datasets and equipment problems/ solutions to diverse audiences.
  • Competent in troubleshooting problems and capable of applying logic to isolate and repair them.
  • Ability to deal with multiple issues and shifting priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with manufacturing technicians and process engineering to deal with issues and priorities.
  • Good foundational problem‑solving skills with creative solutions and out‑of‑the‑box thinking.
  • Self‑motivated; able to take initiative and effectively prioritize work for self.
  • A strong desire to help create a positive, winning, world‑class working environment.
  • Previous experience in Lean Manufacturing methods is highly desirable.
