Job summary

Saputo Cheese USA Inc. in Decatur, AL, is seeking a hands-on production operator to run gable-top carton filling and packaging equipment, follow SOPs, and support quality checks.

You will collect samples, perform seal integrity tests, set up packaging coders, maintain production records, and operate a forklift in a 24/7 facility; prior dairy manufacturing experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of experience in food manufacturing, dairy preferred.
• Advanced quality/food safety training or certifications is a plus, but not required.
• Familiar with SQF, QA/QC, HACCP, GMP and related manufacturing acronyms.

Responsibilities

• Safe and efficient operation of production equipment and gable-top carton lines.
• Set up cartons, perform routine seal integrity tests, and inspect for leaks.
• Identify out-of-spec conditions and follow notification protocols.
• Accurately complete production records and operate a forklift as needed.
• Follow SOPs and maintain a clean, safe work environment.

Ready to bring your best?Position ResponsibilitiesSafe and efficient operation of production equipment to include: Gable-top carton filling and packaging equipment.Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOP’s) in detail without deviation.Collect routine product samples and perform routine seal integrity testing to inspect the carton for leaks, tears and perform dye inspections for quality assurance.Set-up and use the appropriate gable-top cartons in accordance with the production run schedule.Set-up packaging coders, validate product codes in accordance with code specifications.Identify and effectively communicate any out-of-specification product conditions. Follow the established notification protocol.Perform routine equipment adjustments.Safe operation of a lift truck.Accurately and neatly complete production records and documents.Job requirementsMinimum of (2)-two years of demonstrated work experience in food manufacturing, dairy food manufacturing experience preferred.Advanced quality/food safety training and/or certifications is a plus, but not required.An working understanding of food manufacturing acronyms (SQF, QA/QC, CQP, HACCP, SOP,5S, GMP, etc.).Physical DemandsAbility to work in manufacturing environment which includes but not limited to: noise, changing temperatures (hot, wet, cold, humid), standing/walking/bending/stooping/climbing stairs, maneuvering around manufacturing equipment consistently throughout the shift.Visual acuity with the ability to see color.Working with chemicals, wearing personal protective equipment and following approved chemical handling procedures.Physical lifting up to 40-lbs frequently throughout the shift.Shift flexibility.
