Overview
We are seeking experienced Irrigators and Agricultural Equipment Operators to work on vegetable farm fields. Employees will work under the supervision of the Supervisor/Foreperson, performing irrigation installation, repair, and maintenance, as well as tractor operation and general field duties.
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain drip and sprinkler irrigation systems, including surface and subsurface irrigation, syphon tubes, and irrigation gates.
- Start and stop irrigation pumps for both surface and subsurface systems.
- Perform general field maintenance: bird control, weeding with a long‑handle hoe, border maintenance, and trash removal.
- Operate tractors safely, perform daily maintenance checks, and adjust implements such as discs, plows, lasers, rippers, cultivators, listers, and planters.
- Use GPS operating systems for field preparation tasks including planting, cultivating, fertilizing, and harvesting.
- Load, unload, stack, and store sprinkler pipe and irrigation equipment in portable trailers.
- Clean up fields before, during, and after harvest, and pick up trash as needed.
- Report equipment breakdowns and adhere to all safety procedures and performance standards.
Injury and Temporary Work Assignment
In the event of a work‑related injury, the Company will provide a temporary work assignment closely related to the employee’s duties while the employee recovers, subject to medical clearance and specific limitations. This assignment will not be permanent.
Physical & Safety Requirements
- Able-bodied with capacity to lift up to 60 lbs., pull, push, walk on uneven terrain, and work outdoors in heat or cold.
- Good eyesight for plant identification and harvesting decisions.
- Proper personal hygiene and suitable clothing and footwear for outdoor work.
- Follow instructions and use safety equipment correctly.
- For machine operators: safe and careful operation of authorized equipment.
Qualifications
- Minimum one month of work experience as an irrigator and agricultural equipment operator.
- Knowledge of tractor operation and mechanics, with ability to make minor adjustments and repairs.
- Must complete tractor safety training and demonstrate safe tractor operation.
