Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Wildlife Biologist to join our environmental professionals in the Kansas City area (Overland Park). Our Natural Resources team conducts avian and wildlife surveys, habitat assessments, wetland delineations, and permit applications, with data analysis, reporting, and GIS mapping throughout projects.

Travel up to 60% for fieldwork, collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and adherence to safety standards are expected.

Qualifications

• Field sampling techniques using GPS units and data entry devices.
• Advanced technical writing skills to draft plans and reports.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication of project status to the project manager and staff.
• Ability to pass drug test, background check, and driving record per policy.
• Ability to work independently and in adverse weather conditions.
• Commitment to health and safety programs and safety-first culture.

• Prepare and assist with written technical reports, tables, spreadsheets, databases, applications, and maps
• Work under supervision of a project manager
• Organize and direct field teams for varied clients
• Travel and conduct field work for extended periods, including overnight
• Develop work plans, schedules and budgets for proposals
• Data collection and analysis
• Technical report writing including environmental review documents
• ArcGIS-online mapping and analysis
• Provide QA/QC of project deliverables
• This position may require up to 60% travel
