Description

Job Summary: The Field Welder Technician 3 (Line bore) performs welding repairs, fabrication, torch work, and line boring on heavy equipment and components. Responsibilities include quoting jobs, analyzing prints to build material lists, ordering materials, and training team members. The role involves removal, installation, and repair of heavy equipment components, including undercarriage, in both shop and field environments.

The incumbent shall model the following practices daily: 1) Align with the company's mission and core values; 2) Collaborate effectively with internal and external resources; 3) Engage in continuous self-development.

Essential Functions:
  • Promote and reinforce the use of Holt’s Values Based Leadership tools and processes to align with Vision, Values, and Mission.
  • Perform all welding (FCAW, SMAW, GTAW), fabricating, cutting, line boring, and mechanical repairs independently in shop or field settings.
  • Assist leadership with project evaluation and quoting.
  • Lead in the absence of leadership, managing on-site resources.
  • Maintain work orders in coordination with supervisors or leads.
  • Lead projects for developing and executing new business opportunities.
  • Obtain additional welder qualifications as needed.
  • Show willingness to work across departments as needed.
  • Engage in ongoing training and self-improvement.
  • Make decisions and recommend new project approaches.
  • Develop procedures for complex fabrications or repairs.
  • Recommend equipment needs and collaborate on large purchases.
  • Work safely and adhere to all policies and standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Expertise in equipment and dimensional tools, including repair and maintenance.
  • Advanced interpretation of specifications and drawings.
  • Proficiency with Holt software and hardware systems.
  • High attention to detail and quality.
  • Knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing methods.
  • Advanced welding and fabrication skills with effective task performance.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong influencing, critical thinking, and mechanical aptitude.
  • Adaptability and time management skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot logically following standard procedures.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment and tools, including forklifts.
  • Ability to follow manufacturer and company guidelines for quality work.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and safety equipment.
  • Self-motivated, safety-conscious, and capable of leading initiatives.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow detailed instructions.
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to obtain a CDL Class B or higher within 90 days with a clean driving record.
  • Advanced Blueprint reading skills.
  • Certifications in ASNT VT, PT, MT.
  • Ongoing safety training.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or college courses in Welding Technology preferred.
  • Minimum of eight years of experience.
  • At least one year of supervisory or lead experience, three preferred.
  • Proficiency in FCAW and SMAW welding on A36 and T1 materials.
  • First Aid/CPR, Confined Space Entry, and Methane/O2 Deficiency training.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Travel:

20%-40% overnight travel required.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to operate welding machines, service trucks, cranes, and other equipment.
  • Lift objects up to 50 lbs. frequently; more with assistance.
  • Constant movement, manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina required.
  • Climb ladders and work safely underneath equipment.
  • Inspect work visually and respond to signals and alarms.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, often in loud environments.
  • Exposure to chemicals, dust, and high-pressure equipment.
  • Work in cramped spaces or at heights occasionally.
  • Interact regularly with customers and vendors.
