Job summary

SharpAtoms is seeking a Field Walkdown Technician to perform on-site field verifications in Midland, TX. You will inspect pipelines, equipment, and facilities, reconciling as-built conditions with drawings and 3D models.

You will document discrepancies, gather measurements and photos, and provide precise updates for design, drafting and integrity assessments while adhering to site safety procedures and producing clear field reports and sketches.

Qualifications

• Experience in field work within oil & gas, petrochemical, or related process industries.
• Ability to read P&IDs, PFDs, piping layouts, isometrics, and equipment drawings.
• Comfort in outdoor, industrial environments with HSE compliance.
• Proficient with basic measurement tools and data entry on tablets or laptops.
• Strong observational skills and ability to produce accurate field sketches and notes.
• Clear written and verbal communication to collaborate with engineering teams.

The Field Walkdown Technician (Oil & Gas) is an on-site role based in Midland, TX.

This role involves conducting field walkdowns of pipelines, equipment, and associated facilities to verify as-built conditions against engineering drawings and 3D models. The technician documents discrepancies, gathers field measurements, photographs, and inspection data, and provides accurate updates for design, drafting, and integrity assessments. Daily tasks include coordinating with engineering teams, following site safety procedures, performing visual inspections, and preparing clear field reports and sketches. The role also requires working in active plant and pipeline environments and contributing to high-quality as-built documentation for clients.

Qualifications

• Prior field experience in Oil & Gas, petrochemical, or related process industries.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, PFDs, piping layouts, isometrics, and equipment drawings.
• Comfort working in outdoor and industrial environments, with adherence to all HSE requirements.
• Proficiency in using basic measurement tools, tablets or laptops for data entry, and MS Office for reporting.
