Job summary

Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. (ESS) is seeking a Utility Tester to support testing, inspection, commissioning, and documentation of underground water and sewer utility systems on construction projects around Kansas City.

The role conducts hydrostatic, chlorination, sampling, flushing, vacuum, air, and mandrel tests, maintains precise records, ensures compliance with specifications, and assists with closeout activities on multiple sites including travel to Oklahoma.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in underground utility construction or testing preferred.
• Knowledge of hydrostatic testing, chlorination, sampling, flushing, air testing, vacuum testing, and mandrel testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform hydrostatic pressure testing on water mains and services.
• Conduct chlorination and dechlorination of water systems per standards.
• Collect and document water quality samples for testing and acceptance.
• Perform flushing operations prior to system commissioning.
• Conduct vacuum testing of manholes and sewer components.
• Perform low-pressure air testing of sanitary sewer lines.
• Complete mandrel testing to verify pipe installation compliance.
• Record, maintain, and submit accurate testing results and project documentation.
• Identify deficiencies and communicate corrective actions to project personnel.
