Job summary

DTE Energy in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Utility Technician to install and maintain gas equipment and support operations. The role involves meter changes, meter reading, and routine maintenance under supervision.

The successful candidate will work outdoors in all weather, pass a background check and DOT-related tests, and be able to lift up to 40 pounds and use hand tools. On-site role with occasional shifts and emergency assignments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Post offer background check and DOT drug/physical testing.
• Must meet driving standards and be willing to work outdoors in all weather.
• Ability to read and interpret maps and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain required meter changes and interrupt gas services.
• Stake, read and document meters.
• Review and modify leak surveys where required.
• Perform idle service investigations.
• Perform meter and manifold assembly checks and repairs, including dial glass replacement and related tasks.
• Perform grounds maintenance such as grading and seeding.
