Job summary

USIC is seeking a locator for daytime, full-time work to locate underground utilities across multiple systems, using company-provided vehicles and tools. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and efficient marking of utilities, with strong training and growth opportunities.

Ideal candidates are outdoor-oriented problem solvers who can handle overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts. No prior locating experience is required, though encouraged, and applicants must meet driver and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Proficiency with technology.
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
• Able to pass a drug screen (safety-sensitive position).
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
• Able to distinguish between colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities.
• Able to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, as well as maps and prints.
• Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.

Responsibilities

• Correctly, safely, and efficiently locate underground utilities, including telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems.
• Thoroughly search for underground utilities in a designated area, accurately marking the location, completing the necessary documentation, and photographing each locate.
