Job summary

ArborMetrics (AMS) is seeking a Consulting Utility Forester to join our field team in Washington. You will perform pre-patrol preparation, field patrols, landowner outreach, and vegetation management in alignment with client standards and safety protocols.

The ideal candidate has an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in forestry or related field, ISA Arborist certification preferred, forestry or arboriculture experience, GIS and MS Office familiarity, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in forestry, natural resources, or related discipline or equivalent work experience.
• Certified ISA Arborist is highly preferred.
• Experience in forestry, arboriculture, horticulture or tree-related green industry preferred; utility line clearance or tree trimming experience.
• Knowledge of tree identification.
• Knowledge of common computer applications and ability to learn new programs.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Experience with GIS software/technology as well as Microsoft Suite and an iPhone.
• Must be able to work alone, outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, strong problem solving and multi-tasking abilities and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Patrol Preparation: Review work sites for endangered species, habitats, and vegetation.
• Field Patrol Duties: Safely patrol energy corridors, identify vegetation for pruning/removal, perform Tree Risk Assessments.
• Landowner & Stakeholder Engagement: Identify property boundaries, communicate work plans, obtain permissions.
• Vegetation Management & Compliance: Recommend sustainable IVM strategies and audit contractor work.
• Coordination & Safety: Coordinate non-routine work, report safety concerns, follow safety protocols.
• Additional Responsibilities: Storm work participation and other duties as assigned.
