Job summary

ArborMetrics is seeking a Consulting Utility Forester to join our vegetation management team. You will work outdoors, assess vegetation along energy corridors, and coordinate with landowners and agencies.

The role emphasizes safety, documentation, and adapting to client standards while advancing industry certifications. Requirements include forestry education, GIS and Microsoft Office proficiency, and the ability to operate independently in varying conditions.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in forestry, natural resources, or related discipline (education may be required depending on client contract)
• Certified ISA Arborist is highly preferred.
• Experience in forestry, arboriculture, horticulture or tree-related green industry preferred; utility line clearance or tree trimming experience
• Knowledge of tree identification and practical GIS usage
• Valid driver’s license with safe driving record
• Experience with GIS software/technology and Microsoft Office; iPhone experience
• Ability to work alone outdoors in varying weather and terrain
• Strong interpersonal, communication, problem solving and multi-tasking skills

Responsibilities

• Pre-Patrol Preparation: Review work sites for endangered species, sensitive habitats, and vegetation.
• Field Patrol Duties: Safely patrol energy corridors, identify vegetation for pruning/removal/protection.
• Landowner & Stakeholder Engagement: Identify property boundaries, communicate plans, obtain permissions.
• Vegetation Management & Compliance: Recommend sustainable IVM strategies; audit contractor work.
• Coordination & Safety: Coordinate non-routine work; report safety hazards; follow safety protocols.
• Additional Responsibilities: Participate in storm/emergency response; perform other duties as assigned.
