Job summary

Henkels & McCoy West is seeking a skilled Fleet Mechanic to perform field diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on utility fleet equipment, including bucket trucks and digger derricks. The role requires working on active job sites with DOT and ANSI compliance.

Travel up to 75% may be required; work primarily out of the yard with field assignments in Kihei or Waikoloa Village, HI; competitive hourly pay with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical certification in diesel or heavy vehicle repair is preferred.
• 3+ years of experience as a mechanic for utility, construction, or fleet vehicles.
• Valid driver’s license (Class A preferred or willing to obtain a Class A).
• Experience with aerial devices, digger derricks, and hydraulic lifting equipment is strongly preferred.
• Proficient in reading schematics, using diagnostic tools, and performing computer-based diagnostics.
• Familiar with ANSI A92.2 and DOT vehicle inspection standards.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in the field.
• Physically able to lift heavy parts, climb on equipment, and work in varied weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Travel to job sites to inspect, diagnose, and repair equipment.
• Perform routine and emergency maintenance on bucket trucks (aerial lifts), digger derricks, utility pickups, vans, and trailers; excavators; skid steers.
• Troubleshoot and repair diesel/gas engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and emissions systems.
• Conduct ANSI and DOT inspections on aerial and lift equipment.
• Maintain accurate service logs, repair documentation, and parts usage records.
• Communicate with the mechanic lead to schedule and complete repairs to minimize downtime.
• Ensure vehicles meet OSHA, DOT, and company safety requirements.
• Maintain an organized and fully equipped mobile service truck; follow safety standards.
