POSITION: Field Underwriter Job Description, MUST LIVE in BAY or WALTON County.

REPORTS TO: Field Operations Manager

Field Reporting Specialist – Full Time – Ground Only

Summary /Objective

This position is responsible for the timely, professional and safe completion of assigned underwriting surveys. The Field Reporting Specialist will interact with Reviewers, insurance agency personnel and policy holders while maintaining a polite, professional manner and appearance at all times. The Field Reporting Specialist will use their own personal vehicle for daily travel in an assigned territory including some overnight travel. The ability to work independently and ability to efficiently navigate a geographical area are required for the position.

Essential Functions

Accurate measurement of exterior perimeter of subject structures

Accurate observation of interior construction finishes and materials

Accurate observation of condition and maintenance of subject structure

Accurate observation of liability exposures and hazards

Accurate and objective observation of roof covering

Accurate and objective policyholder interview

Accurate and complete submission of diagrams, photos, orders and reports

Candidate is expected to exceed minimum productivity requirements

Work Environment

Must be comfortable with working outside in the elements which can include rain, snow, ice, extreme hot and cold temperatures for long periods of time several days in the week. Must be comfortable with potentially long commutes and driving in both rural and urban settings.

Physical Demands

Must be physically fit and able to walk, stand and sit for long periods of time.

Must have good sense of balance and capable of walking and working on uneven ground.

Must be able to raise and hold arms above head using telescoping camera pole throughout the day.

Must be able to carry and climb inspection ladder

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position must be available Monday through Friday.

Travel

Day trips within the service area of Bay and Walton County

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required

Experience working in the insurance underwriting and/or field survey industry desirable but not required

Proficient in oral and written communication and working with smart phones, mobile devices, cameras, etc.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Must have a valid driver’s license

Must have a reliable vehicle in excellent condition

Must have a smart phone (iPhone preferred)

Must have car insurance in your name

Ability to navigate via maps and written directions

High speed internet service

Computer and keyboard proficiency

Proficiency in usage of the internet navigation and email

Proficiency in usage of Mobile Apps

Compensation- The average 1099 inspector earns between $60 and $100K per year. The amount you earn is based on a willingness to work, take on occasional Saturdays or overnight travel in other states.

Grooming Requirements

Hair must be a natural color and kept neatly groomed at all times. Men’s hair must not be longer than the bottom of collar. Mohawks and spiked hair are prohibited. Men may not have ponytails.

Facial hair may not be more than 1/2 inch long at the bottom and the area under the chin must be shaved. Sideburns must not extend beyond the ear lobe or into the face. All skin surrounding any facial hair must always be clean-shaven.

Dress Code: Clean collared shirts and khaki pants (shorts are allowed in summer hot months) with comfortable closed toe shoes.
