Job summary

Service Electric Company is seeking a Transformer Technician to safely execute field service projects involving power and distribution transformers. The role includes assembly, installation, testing, inspection, and repair in dynamic field environments with substantial travel and flexible schedules.

You will work independently or on teams, with a tiered system to classify technicians by experience. This position emphasizes safety, quality, and on-time project delivery while supporting equipment

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical training preferred.
• Experience in transformer service or related electrical field.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and standard test software.
• OSHA 30, NFPA-70, and CPR/First Aid training provided if needed.
• Class A CDL recommended.
• Electro-mechanical proficiency in transformer assembly and maintenance.
• Experience with electrical wiring in commercial/industrial settings.
• Forklift operation experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical field service tasks with minimal supervision.
• Assemble, install, and maintain power and distribution transformers.
• Interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and factory manuals.
• Operate transformer oil processing equipment and document procedures.
• Support or perform transformer testing and document results.
• Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
• Lead and mentor junior staff when required.
