About The Role
The Corporate Training Director at UU will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of safety and technical training programs for field employees in transmission, distribution, and substation operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring a safe work environment and a highly skilled workforce by implementing safety initiatives and workforce development strategies in alignment with corporate goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and deliver training programs focused on electrical safety, technical skills, onboarding, and leadership development for craft workers and field leadership.
- Maintain training documentation, certifications, and records using the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Work closely with field leadership to identify training gaps and develop tailored solutions.
- Coordinate and deliver training programs focused on power delivery safety, technical skills, onboarding, and leadership development for T&D lineman and field supervisors.
- Facilitate onboarding for new hires, ensuring consistency in safety and operational readiness.
- Partner with operations teams to align training initiatives with project timelines and business priorities.
- Collaborate with HR, compliance, and operations to support workforce development, regulatory training, and client requirements.
- Represent the company in client meetings, audits, and industry forums related to training and safety.
- Ability to travel 45-50% across regions to conduct training meetings.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Education, Construction Management, or related field (preferred); equivalent work experience considered.
- Journeyman Lineman credential or Transmission/ Distribution Lineman A experience is required
- 3-5+ years of experience in safety training within the Transmission and Distribution power utility construction industry.
- Strong understanding of T&D power utility operations and associated safety standards.
- OSHA 500 a plus; additional safety certifications (e.g., CSP, CHST, CUSP) preferred.
- Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS) and hands-on training delivery methods.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and team leadership skills.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint is required.
- Ability to travel up to 50%.
