Job summary

The North Slope Borough seeks a Police Officer to patrol and secure assigned areas in Utqiaġvik and surrounding communities. The role enforces local, state, and Borough laws, conducts investigations, and assists Fire/Medical responders.

You will interview victims and suspects, collect evidence, prepare reports, and testify in court. Candidates must meet Alaska standards, hold citizenship, and be 21+ with a valid license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification as a Police Officer in Alaska within 1 year of appointment.
• Must hold valid Alaska drivers license and meet insurance criteria within 30 days.
• Citizen of the United States.
• 21 years of age or older at hire.
• Able to pass a thorough background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas and provide security; operate patrol vehicles and assist colleagues.
• Enforce local, state, and Borough laws and codes.
• Respond to emergencies and interview victims, witnesses, suspects; collect evidence and file reports.
• Arrest violators, transport prisoners, testify in court, and execute warrants and orders of protection.
• Represent the Borough in court hearings and assist with investigations and training.
