Chestnut Health Systems is seeking a part-time Research Field Interviewer to support community-based research in Klamath County in Southern Oregon.

This isn't a desk job. You'll spend much of your time in the community locating and connecting with research participants, conducting interviews, collecting follow-up data, and helping individuals stay engaged throughout the study.

The work requires persistence, flexibility, strong people skills, and knowledge of the communities you'll serve. Some participants may be difficult to reach, so success means knowing how to problem-solve, build trust, and keep trying when the first approach doesn't work.

If you're comfortable working independently, enjoy meeting people where they are, and want to contribute to meaningful substance use research, we'd love to meet you.

Why You'll Love This Role
  • Get out from behind a desk and work directly in communities throughout Klamath County.
  • Contribute to meaningful research focused on individuals and families affected by substance use.
  • Build relationships with participants, community organizations, and local partners.
  • Enjoy a flexible, part-time field-based role where every day can look different.
  • Put your communication, persistence, and problem-solving skills to work.
  • Receive mileage reimbursement when using your personal vehicle for required travel.
  • Join a research team where accurate data and strong participant relationships make a difference.
Qualifications
Education & Community Knowledge
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of communities and neighborhoods within Klamath County required.
  • Interest in community-based research, substance use services, behavioral health, human services, or related work is a plus.
Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to connect and build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences.
  • Strong persistence, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while staying connected with a larger research team.
  • Ability to follow detailed research and data collection protocols accurately.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to adjust your schedule based on participant availability and project needs.
  • Comfortable using smartphones and technology and helping others learn basic applications.
Additional Requirements
  • Valid driver's license and proof of current automobile insurance required.
  • Must meet agency requirements for automobile insurance coverage.
  • Reliable personal vehicle required for travel throughout the assigned service area.
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as assigned based on participant availability.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions, including rain, snow, heat, and cold.
  • Ability to provide participant transportation when required.
