Location: Geneva, New York (Grape Genetics Research Unit, USDA-ARS).
Anticipated Start Date: October 2025. Appointment Length: 1 year, with potential renewal.
Overview: The fellowship focuses on understanding grapevine responses to abiotic stressors (cold/freezing, drought, heat, nutrient stress) and developing genetic/genomic approaches to improve stress tolerance. The participant will gain experience in plant genetics, genomics, and collaborations with Cornell University and USDA-ARS scientists. Learning objectives include training in pipeline development, trait identification, and mapping analysis, with exposure to AI-based protein structure prediction tools and fungal pan-genome resources.
Qualifications: Doctoral or terminal degree in a relevant field or current pursuit with intent to complete. Preferred skills include multi-omic data analysis, QTL mapping, genomic prediction, and wet lab experience. Citizenship: U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents.
Compensation: Annual stipend in the range of $65,000 - $75,000; start date flexible. Benefits and ORISE information apply (program administered by ORAU).

Location: Inventory and Monitoring Division, San Francisco Bay Area Network, Point Reyes Station, California. Schedule: 20 weeks minimum, full-time, 675 hours AmeriCorps slot; flexible start date with end date in 2026. Remote work: Not fully remote.
Overview: The position supports plant monitoring, field data collection, and program reporting within the Plant Community Monitoring crew. Responsibilities include field data collection, data entry, QA/QC, and aiding in restoration and monitoring projects. Duties may include voucher specimen collection, plant identification, and data organization in spreadsheets/databases.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in plant science, ecology, or related field; or equivalent experience. Two years of field experience preferred; strong communication and teamwork skills. Must be physically able to perform field duties in varying conditions and carry equipment as needed. Citizenship: U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident. Driver’s license required; must pass background checks and be eligible for AmeriCorps program.
