Job summary

UES is seeking a motivated Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Technician I to join our geotechnical and materials testing team in Pineville, North Carolina. You will perform on-site inspections, collect samples, and conduct testing to ensure projects meet specifications and regulatory requirements.

Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, safety-minded, and comfortable working outdoors with travel up to 70% to field sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training is a plus.
• 0–3 years in field-based outdoor roles (construction, materials testing, geotechnical).
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; safe vehicle operation.
• Certifications such as ACI Level 1 or ability to obtain within timeframe.
• Commitment to OSHA safety standards and PPE usage.
• Basic computer skills with MS Office and field data collection tools.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
• Strong time management, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field and laboratory testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates.
• Collect, label, and transport samples to laboratories for testing.
• Ensure testing meets project specs and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare detailed test reports, logs, and documentation.
• Maintain testing equipment and follow manufacturer guidelines.
• Document results and site conditions accurately and timely.
• Communicate status and issues with dispatch and project managers.
