Job summary

Intertek is seeking an Entry Level Field Technician I at the York, PA office to perform testing, observations and site assessments under supervision. This role supports construction materials testing and environmental quality programs.

You will operate testing equipment, interpret data, and maintain documentation while adhering to safety and project requirements in an outdoor, variable-weather environment.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required and reliable driving record.
• Must be able to travel up to 15% of the time.
• Ability to lift, move, push and pull 30–50 pounds frequently; occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods and work outdoors in varying weather.

Professional Service Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) is a leading US based provider of construction assurance, testing and inspection in civil and commercial construction. Our broad service offering includes construction materials testing, geotechnical services, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing.

What are we looking for?

The Entry Level Field Technician I is responsible for performing a variety of testing, project specific observations and site assessment duties under general supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures.

What you’ll do:

• Operate testing equipment and conduct testing (example: Soil, asphalt, concrete or other) and provide assessment of data through reporting
• Utilize drawings, specifications, and diagrams
• Use specific methods and perform tasks to make detailed observations of site activities and give limited interpretation of results
• Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record
• Must be able to work off shift and overtime as needed
• Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
• Ability to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently; Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance
• Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound
• Ability to kneel and squat occasionally
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
• Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures
• Ability to climb occasionally, and work at various heights

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 6 months of construction related experience
• ACI Certification desired, not necessary
