Job Title: Field Technician – High Voltage Testing (NETA Certified)
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Field Technician to perform high voltage electrical testing, inspection, and maintenance of power distribution systems. This role requires a current NETA certification and hands‑on experience with electrical testing equipment and procedures. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, comfortable working in the field, and committed to maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform acceptance, maintenance, and troubleshooting testing on high voltage equipment including switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, relays, and cables
- Conduct testing in accordance with NETA ATS/MTS standards and client specifications
- Operate and maintain electrical testing equipment such as insulation resistance testers, power factor test sets, relay test equipment, and TDR units
- Interpret test results, identify deficiencies, and provide recommendations for corrective actions
- Prepare detailed and accurate field service reports and documentation
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and company safety policies
- Interface with clients, engineers, and project managers to communicate findings and project status
- Assist with commissioning and energization procedures
- Travel to job sites as required (local and out‑of‑town)
Qualifications
- Current NETA Certification (Level II, III, or IV preferred)
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in high voltage testing or related electrical field work
- Strong knowledge of electrical power systems and components
- Familiarity with NETA, ANSI, IEEE, and NFPA standards
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Preferred Skills
- Experience with relay testing and protective device coordination
- OSHA 10/30 certification and NFPA 70E training
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in industrial environments, including exposure to high voltage equipment
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods
- Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and confined spaces when necessary
