Job summary

Thompson Tractor in Alabama is seeking a Field Technician to service and repair earthmoving equipment in the field or in shop environments. You will evaluate, troubleshoot, and repair machinery while working independently and as part of a team.

The role requires on‑the‑job training and classroom instruction; you’ll advance based on attitude and performance. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and be committed to safety and customer service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• At least 1 year of mechanical repairs experience or equivalent training.
• Experience using personal computers and basic typing skills.
• MVR required; Med Card and CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans and performs minor repairs using correct tools and procedures.
• Performs tasks on engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical components: remove and install; disassemble and reassemble; minor adjustments as needed for service.
• Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
• Test and adjust components for optimal performance.
• Orders and returns parts for assigned jobs in a timely manner.
• Works independently in the field as required.
