Leavitt Machinery USA is seeking a mechanically skilled Field Technician (Heavy Equipment) to join the Service team in Portland, Oregon. You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing routine maintenance on a variety of material handling equipment while communicating with customers and internal teams.

The role requires 2–3 years of related experience, a valid driver’s license, and a willingness to travel to customer sites in the region.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of heavy equipment or material handling experience required.
• Aerial platform and lift truck repair experience preferred.
• Trade Certification is a strong asset.
• Experience with hydraulics and diagnosing/servicing electric engines is a strong asset.
• Excellent communication and ability to work with customers and internal teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn mechanical concepts.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and perform routine maintenance and safety inspections on material handling equipment.
• Coordinate with Service Dispatcher and complete tasks promptly.
• Discuss service job details with customers and confirm scope of repairs.
• Coordinate parts with Parts department and prepare parts for on-site visits.
• Maintain documentation such as work orders and warranty paperwork.
• Report safety incidents and adhere to safety policies.

The Opportunity

Leavitt Machineryis looking for a mechanically skilled Field Technician (Heavy Equipment) to join our Service team in Portland, Oregon. Reporting to the Service Manager, the Field Technician will be assigned to a variety of machinery repair tasks required by our loyal customers.

As a Field Technician your key responsibilities will include:

• Diagnosing, repairing, and completing routine maintenance and safety inspections on a variety of material handling equipment and machinery
• Maintaining effective and consistent communication with the Service Dispatcher regarding ongoing Service jobs, and completing assigned tasks in a timely manner
• Discussing Service job details with customers and communicating a clear understanding of the job scope and repair requirements
• Communicating with the Parts department via phone and email to ensure required parts are ordered, and preparing required parts before visiting job sites
• Maintaining proper documentation where needed, including work order forms and warranty paperwork
• Reporting any safety incidents promptly and adhering to all safety policies

Required Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:

• 2-3 years of heavy equipment or material handling equipment experience required
• Previous aerial platform and lift truck repair experience strongly preferred
• Relevant Trade Certification a strong asset
• Experience with hydraulics and diagnosing/servicing electric engines a strong asset
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to partner effectively with external customers and internal stakeholders
• Excellent problem-solving skills and strong aptitude for learning and applying mechanical and technical concepts
• Strong work ethic and a positive attitude
• High school diploma
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites in the region is required

The base pay range for this role is: $35.00 to $43.25 per hour depending on experience.

This is an onsite role based in Portland, Oregon.
