Job summary

Natural Resources Wales is seeking an Integrated Workforce Team Member to support maintenance of flood risk assets and NRW-managed land across South East Wales. The role involves hands-on tasks, operating tools and machinery, and following technical plans to protect communities and environments.

Vehicle driving between sites, 45-minute emergency response proximity, and an out-of-hours standby rota are required. Flexible working and development through a personal development plan are offered.

Qualifications

  • Hold relevant operator licences for tools, machinery and plant.
  • Hold an IOSH Working Safely qualification, or demonstrate a willingness to achieve this following appointment.
  • Demonstrate basic IT skills, including the ability to use digital systems to record and access information.
  • Hold an Emergency First Aid at Work +F qualification, or be willing to obtain this through training.
  • Experience working in a forestry, construction, agricultural, environmental, or plant operations environment is desirable.
  • Able to undertake physically demanding work involving lifting, carrying, walking over uneven terrain and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Confident and capable of working safely in and around water environments.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence. Category B+E entitlement (trailer towing) is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a manual labour service for the maintenance of NRW assets including flood risk assets and NRW managed land.
  • Operate equipment such as hand-held tools including chainsaws.
  • Operate as banksman and slinger/signaller.
  • Understand technical and utility plans and operate in compliance with CDM Regulations.
  • Use small plant and machinery such as Aebi/Reform, pedestrian mowers, woodchippers.
  • Undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities as appropriate to the post.
