Job summary

Dragonfly Pond Works is actively seeking a field technician to support pond, lake, and stormwater maintenance in outdoor environments in North Carolina. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and clear communication with the Operations Team and subcontractors.

You will report to the field supervisor and assist with repairs, site stabilization, and equipment operation, while benefiting from health, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, PTO, and paid holidays.

Qualifications

• Active Class B CDL and clean driving record required
• Ability to pass a background check
• Experience in fisheries, wildlife management, ecology or related environmental fields desirable
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and work in varying weather conditions
• Comfortable around water, slopes and environmental risks
• Strong communication skills with diverse audiences
• Team-oriented and aligned with company values

Responsibilities

• Report to the field supervisor
• Complete pond/lake/stormwater maintenance and repairs
• Operate and maintain equipment safely (slope mowers, Ventrac, loaders, mini-excavators, skid steers)
• Perform manual labor (moving materials, rip rap, mulch, dirt)
• Assist with planting, seeding, and site stabilization
• May work in confined spaces and crawl in pipes or structures
• Collect and secure company equipment at day end

Requirements

• Must possess an active Class B Commercial Drivers License and clean driving record
• Ability to pass a background check
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Experience in the following disciplines is desirable: fisheries, wildlife management, conservation, ecology, biology, environmental sciences, or forestry, pond/lake maintenance, landscaping, erosion control, or stormwater maintenance
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and work in various weather conditions
• Comfortable working around water, slopes, and environmental risks (bees, poison ivy, etc.)
• Great communication skills and ability to interact with multiple audiences, including but not limited to the Operations Team, subcontractors, vendors, and others.

Key Responsibilities:

• Report to the field supervisor
• Complete repairs and maintenance on ponds, lakes, and other stormwater control measures, including: Turf establishment planting, hand or machine excavation, grading, erosion repairs, tree removal, and site stabilization
• Operate and maintain equipment safely (slope mowers, Ventrac, front-end loaders, mini-excavators, skid steers, other)
• Perform manual labor tasks such as moving materials by wheelbarrow, including rip rap, mulch, and dirt
• Maintain and repair ponds, lakes, and stormwater control measures (planting, spreading seed, mixing bags of concrete by hand, and using a shovel to move gravel)
• May be asked to work in confined spaces, may have to enter and crawl in pipes and precast structures
