Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Field Technician for the Field Services organization to support FAA contracts and provide field support in NY airspaces. The role covers testing, installation, and maintenance of communications infrastructure and related equipment.

Travel within NY and up to 3-hour drives from Buffalo NY may be required. Security clearance (DOT Public Trust/DOD Secret) is required, and a valid driver’s license with a clean record is necessary.

Qualifications

• Requires highly developed job knowledge and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-secondary/Associate's degree with 2+ years related experience.
• Obtain and maintain a DOT Public Trust Security Clearance and a DOD Secret Clearance.
• Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Good working knowledge of cable connectors and replacement (RJ-11, RJ-45, DB-25, V.35, RS-449).
• Strong fiber and network knowledge including topology, Frame Relay, T-1, SONET, ATM, and data applications.
• Experience with power testing (3-phase AC) and 24VDC/48VDC supplies.
• Network and circuit testing per T1/DS3 standards, BERT and VG testing.

L3Harris Technologies is looking for a Field Technician for the Company’s Field Services organization supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This role will be responsible for field support in NY airspaces. Field technician will support FAA contracts FTI, ADSB, DCNS and any other FSG programs.

Essential Functions:

• Good working knowledge of cable connectors and replacement, such as RJ-11, RJ-45, DB-25, V.35, RS-449
• Have an excellent working knowledge of fiber, working knowledge of Multiplexes, Network topology, Frame Relay, Fractional T-1, SONET Network Technology, ATM, Private Line, Voice and Data applications
• Good working knowledge of power testing, AC and DC including 3 Phase AC. Familiar with configuration and operation of the 24VDC & 48 VDC power supplies.
• Experience with network and circuit testing with T1 Testing Specifications, DS3 Testing, Digital Testing (BERT), and Analog VG Testing within Bell Core Standards.
• Working knowledge and usage of various network test equipment: JDSU HST, Ameritech AM5XT, Sage 935, Digital Oscilloscope, Halcyon 704A, Para-scope or other T1/DS3 Test sets.
• IP Based knowledge with experience configuring routers and switches
• Experience installing equipment racks (wallmount, raised floors, concrete, etc.)
• Travel to FAA site locations within a 3 hour drive from Buffalo, NY area
• Candidate must be able to obtain FAA Security Clearance from Public Trust background investigation

Qualifications:

• Capable of lifting 70 pounds
• Must be willing to travel (up to 100% of the time) to remote sites within a 3hour drive circle of base location. Technicians may be asked to travel outside of their assigned region, as needed.
• Posses and maintain a valid Driver’s License, and satisfactory driving record, as conditions of initial (and continued0 employment
• Capable of utilizing ladders, and step stools, to reach heights of approx. 10 feet
• Willingness and/or ability to work outside regularly scheduled hours to meet operational needs and to respond to after-hours emergency calls as required.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work in high stress and visibility environment

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in the Buffalo, NY area is $54,500 - $104,500. The salary range for this role in Buffalo, NY is $54,500 - $104,500.
