Job summary

Holt of California in Redding, CA is seeking an experienced technician to repair and maintain electric, diesel, and gasoline industrial trucks at customers' sites.

Duties include diagnosing malfunctions, installing ignition systems, servicing transmissions and engines, adjusting brakes, and repairing hydraulic systems, with on-site travel.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, and/or five years related experience.
  • Working knowledge of AC/DC electrical theory and power generation.
  • Familiarity with control systems and safety related to electricity.

Responsibilities

  • Reads job orders, diagnoses lift trucks to plan work procedures.
  • Installs ignition systems, replaces batteries and transmissions.
  • Examines guards, bolts and safety devices; makes adjustments.
  • Lubricates parts and road-tests repaired trucks for conformance.
  • Fabricates lifting or towing attachments and hydraulic shields.
  • Remove and rebuild transmissions and differentials.
  • Remove and replace engines and perform brake repairs.
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems; complete documentation daily.
  • Drive to customers' location and perform other duties.

THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN REDDING, CA.

POSITION SUMMARY

Repairs and maintains electric, diesel, and gasoline industrial trucks at customers' sites.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reads job order and observes, listens, and diagnoses all types of lift trucks in operation to determine malfunction to plan work procedures.
  • Installs new ignition systems, changes or recharges batteries, and replaces transmission and other parts.
  • Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and makes adjustments.
  • Lubricates moving parts and drives repaired truck to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Fabricates special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems shields, or other devices according to blueprints or schematic drawings.
  • Remove and rebuild transmissions and differentials.
  • Remove and replace engines.
  • Perform complete brake repairs and adjustments.
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems.
  • Repair documentation and paperwork completed and turned in on a daily basis.
  • Drive to customers' location.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
SKILLS
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to write service reports.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to fulfill the essential functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • High school or GED; and/or five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have working knowledge of AC/DC electrical theory, power generation, control systems and safety related to electricity.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Must have a valid driver license and a clean DMV report. Must have a forklift Operator Safety Certificate.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee frequently works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

COMPENSATION

Wage Range $34.25 to $35.62

Wage depends on knowledge, skills and ability to perform the responsibilities of the job.

Hourly rate of pay as negotiated with Operating Engineers, Local #3. Excellent company-paid benefits including medical, dental, retirement, vacations and holidays.
