Job summary

Granite is seeking a telecommunications Field Service Technician specializing in structured cabling and technology installations within a 50‑mile service area. You will lead subcontracted crews on larger projects and report to a remote supervisor; a company vehicle is provided.

Primary duties include installing, testing, and maintaining cabling, coordinating with NI teams, and delivering project deliverables within 24 hours. 5–10 years cabling experience and basic networking are required.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years structured cabling experience.
• Ability to tone and test copper wiring / analog dial tone.
• Terminate and test Cat5e/6/6A cabling.
• Terminate and test Coax cabling.
• Patch and roll fiber.
• Laptop skills for remote sessions with engineers/NOC.
• Basic Networking (Modem Gui, Command Prompts, remote sessions).
• Light travel and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with NI team members and scheduling departments.
• Complete basic structured cabling repairs and new installations.
• Perform Smart Hands installations and maintenance with various platforms.
• Provide required job and project deliverables within 24 hours.
• Maintain company vehicle and stock materials/tools.

Job description

General Summary of Position:

This position is for a telecommunications, structured cabling, and technology Field Service Technician. The job will consist of completing various cable runs, hardware moves, adds, changes and “smart hands” installations for Granite customers, primarily within a 50-mile service area radius. The technician will also be responsible for leading subcontracted crews on larger projects in the area. Company vehicle provided. Technician will directly report to a remote supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Communicate effectively with the NI team members and departments that schedule each service call
• Complete basic structured cabling repairs and new installations according to industry standard practices
• Smart Hands installations and maintenance with various technology platforms and changing SOW’s
• Provide all required job and project deliverables within 24 hours or otherwise specified in an SOW
• Keep company vehicle clean and serviced properly
• Keep all materials & tools stocked. Accountability maintained through scheduled inventory counts.

Required Qualifications:

• 5-10 years structured cabling experience
• Ability to tone and test copper wiring / analog dial tone
• Ability to terminate and test Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A cablings
• Ability to terminate and test Coax cabling
• Ability to patch and roll fiber
• Laptop skills (Excel, Putty/Hyper Terminal for ability to allow remote session to engineer / NOC)
• Basic Networking (Modem Gui’s, Command Prompts, Initiate Remote sessions)
• Light travel
• Clean Driving Record

• Wireless Knowledge (Ability to utilize Ekahua software)

Compensation Range: The compensation range for this position is $29/hour to $35/ hour and represents what Granite reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this role at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to experience, education, job related skills, and overall alignment with the role.
