Job summary

Henkels & McCoy West in the United States is seeking a Field Planning Technician to support pre-construction planning for telecommunications and utility infrastructure. You will conduct site surveys, collect data, and prepare project designs in collaboration with engineering and field teams.

The role emphasizes accuracy, documentation, and compliance, with responsibilities including cost estimation support, material lists, and route planning for underground and aerial installations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 1–3 years of related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field surveys to gather site-specific data and measurements.
• Document field conditions through notes, photos, and sketches.
• Prepare and update project layouts and design packages.
• Interpret construction drawings and utility plans.
• Identify permitting, right-of-way, and environmental constraints.
• Coordinate with engineering and field teams to ensure accurate planning.
• Develop material lists and bill of materials.
• Assist in route planning for underground and aerial installations.
• Ensure compliance with company and client standards.
• Support cost estimating and budgeting.
• Maintain organized project documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

Qualifications

Required & Preferred Qualifications:

• Basic knowledge of electrical or utility construction
• Ability to read and interpret maps and technical drawings
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in teams
• Ability to travel to field sites
• Valid driver's license
• Preferred: GIS or AutoCAD experience
• Preferred: Telecommunications or utility planning experience
• Preferred: Knowledge of permitting and right-of-way

Education and Experience Requirements:

Hourly Range: $24.00 to $36.00 per hour
