Job summary

DSC Communications in Manitowoc, Wisconsin seeks a qualified RF Field Technician to design, install, optimize, maintain and repair LMR and related equipment. You will work on complex radio systems for public safety, manufacturing, and hospitality clients, performing chassis tests, programming, and site surveys.

The role requires experience with RF test equipment, antennas, and system coordination, with strong attention to detail and customer service orientation. Training is provided as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
  • Install and support Land Mobile Radio systems for various customers.
  • Program and modify templates for P25 and DMR systems.
  • Collaborate with Sales/Service for system design recommendations.
  • Work independently or in teams on wireless systems including UHF/VHF and microwave.
  • Install, align, and certify antennas using test equipment.
  • Troubleshoot radio equipment issues and signal problems.
  • Maintain detailed installation and maintenance records.
  • Utilize MS Office for documentation and reporting.
  • Coordinate projects and onsite contractor activities.
  • Perform additional assignments and special projects as directed.

Summary

DSC Communications is seeking a qualified and experienced RF Field Technician in our Manitowoc, Wisconsin Location.

The RF Field Technician must be able to design, program, install, optimize, maintain, troubleshoot and repair Land Mobile Radio (LMR) and associated communications equipment & systems including mobile and portable subscriber units. Successful candidates will be motivated, customer service oriented, highly organized and detail oriented and professional in appearance

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform for Preventive Maintenance, Diagnostics and Troubleshooting using test equipment such as Radio Communications Analyzers, Signal Generators, Spectrum Analyzers, Site Master, and LAN testers
  • Install and support Land Mobile Radio communications systems, including complex radio systems for public safety, manufacturing, mining, health care, education and hospitality customers.
  • Programming and template modifications for P25 and DMR Conventional and Trunked Radio Systems.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Service Team Members for new proposed system recommendations and designs that align with customer requirements.
  • Work both independently and with teams to perform maintenance, installations, modifications, updates and upgrades to complex wireless communications systems, including UHF/VHF, 800/900 MHz systems, dispatch consoles, and microwave systems.
  • Install, align, and certify antennas using FDR Test equipment to ensure optimal signal strength and coverage
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with radio equipment, including signal interference, connectivity problems, and hardware malfunctions
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of installations, maintenance activities, repairs, and system configurations
  • Utilize MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) for documentation and reporting purposes.
  • Project Management: Coordinate and schedule projects providing timely updates to internal teams and onsite coordination of contractors/subcontractors.
  • Perform additional assignments and special projects as directed.
Experience and Education
  • One plus years of experience in creating high-level programming code plugs, installing, and servicing complex wireless communications systems, and providing system recommendations.
  • Documented Communications/Electronics background. (AS/AA Degree, Military or Other Relevant Certifications)
  • Experience in operating test equipment (Communications Service Monitors, Watt meters, TDRs, FDRs, Multimeters)
  • Must be able to successfully pass and maintain the ability to pass background checks and obtain security clearances, as well as possess and maintain a clean driving record.
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Company will provide additional training, as necessary.
