Summary: The Technical Service Specialist is responsible for providing expert support and guidance for the installation, operation, and maintenance of water treatment products and equipment, as well as design and continuous improvement of chemical delivery equipment. This role is also critical in ensuring high standards of quality and performance for 3rd party co-packing operations. The position aims to ensure customer satisfaction through technical excellence and responsive service.

Functions:

  • Handle customer-related technical service issues via phone and site visits, working closely with internal production sites and 3rd party re-packaging sites to meet quality and production standards through routine meetings, both virtually and on-site.
  • Provide technical training and support to internal teams and external customers.
  • Support the installation and operation of tablet chlorination equipment, a key growth area for SS.
  • Manage the Annual Warehouse Self-Assessments program to facilitate the safe handling and storage of Westlake's SS chemical products.
  • Review and qualify all tablet/equipment leads received, perform initial qualification, and forward to Sales for implementation and sales closing.
  • Understand equipment manufacturing, including improvements and new designs, and be knowledgeable about packaging materials, packaging operations, and tableting operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Technical degree or minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Approximately 50% travel required.
  • Strong understanding of chemical product safety and storage requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey technical information clearly and effectively.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage complexity, plan, organize, solve problems, and make independent decisions.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and industry trend awareness.

Solid Specialties is a $180MM business with equipment sales totaling $6MM annually, supporting a strategic shift towards value-added tablets. Off-site manufacturing costs amount to $10MM annually.

This position does not supervise others but involves significant interaction with customers, suppliers, and internal teams including Manufacturing, Field Sales, Market Managers, and Supply Chain Supervisors.
