Celanese is seeking a senior polymer processing expert to solve complex customer processing issues and design experiments to optimize materials and customer products. You will document results, connect analytics to processing, and collaborate with product teams to support new product development.

The role requires extensive hands-on injection molding and broad polymer materials knowledge, with travel up to 80% to customer sites or Celanese locations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of polymer processing experience.
• Hands-on experience operating injection molding equipment; other processing methods a plus.
• Expertise in polymer materials and plastics processing; OEM/tiers experience a plus.
• Proficiency with CAD/CAE or process simulation tools a plus.
• Willingness to travel up to 80% to customer or Celanese sites.

Overview

*REMOTE - Ideal locations would be MI, IL, WI, MN, IN or OH.

Responsibilities

• Solve customer polymer processing issues utilizing fundamental polymer knowledge, polymer processing skills, and intuition.
• Independently design experiments to determine the effect of polymer processing variables on our materials and the customer product.
• Document key results and processing parameters used during engagements into our standardized form and upload to our repository.
• Understand appropriate polymer analytical testing connecting results to polymer processing, chemistry, and customer observations.
• Interface with product teams to support new product development.
• Collaborate closely with commercial team on customer projects keeping them updated on status and concerns.
• Aid in developing processing recommendations of new and existing products for customers.
• Develop strong relationships with customers to aid in Celanese being the partner of choice.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of polymer processing experience required; BS in related discipline preferred. Scientific molding certification is a plus.
• Hands on practical experience operating injection molding equipment; experience in other processing methods in addition to injection molding is a plus.
• Expertise in polymer materials and plastics processing; work experience supporting OEMs or tiers directly is a plus.
• Proficiency in tool and/or plastic part design, Computer Aided Engineer, or process simulation tools is a plus.
• Readiness to travel up to 80% to customer or Celanese sites.
