Job summary

DECCO Postharvest, an ADVANTA company, seeks a Technical Advisor to deliver field-based postharvest guidance to growers, packers and shippers in the fruit and vegetable value chain. You will lead field trials, develop treatment recommendations and ensure proper handling practices across citrus, stone fruit and vegetables from farm to storage and transport.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Plant Science, Pathology, Agronomy or related field, at least 4 years of relevant experience, strong

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Plant Science, Pathology, Agronomy, or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant working experience related to producing, processing, handling, and/or treatment of fruit and vegetables.
• Experience conducting research and trials on agricultural commodities.
• Computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other MS Office programs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Have or are able to obtain Pest Control Advisor’s license from California DPR within 12 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Advisor: Provide guidance on proper use of DECCO products to protect fruit and vegetable quality during postharvest handling and storage.
• Technical Expert: Develop expertise on pathogens of fruit and vegetables and effective control methods.
• Biological Testing: Prepare and analyze fungicide-amended plates to monitor pathogens and resistance levels.
• Collaboration: Interact with colleagues, customers, universities and industry experts to share knowledge and identify opportunities.
• Innovation: Seek improvements for products, applications, and handling practices.
• Training/Teaching/Presenting: Share knowledge through 1-on-1 and group sessions.
• Trials/Tests: Coordinate lab testing and field trials with R&D and commercial teams.
