Description

Job purpose

To follow instructions and retain knowledge on Waukesha and other natural gas engines. Works with lead technicians who are assigned to mentor. Promotes safe work practices and ensures that JSA and all HSE requirements are followed. Learns to complete detailed daily service reports. Works with lead technicians to learn proper procedures in troubleshooting and repairing natural gas engines. Class C technician is a trainee with little to no knowledge of the natural gas industry.

Duties and responsibilities

The Field Technician - Class C is responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Perform tasks as assigned by supervisor/management and/or lead technician (Mentor).
  • Work safely and maintain high standards of housekeeping.
  • Demonstrate satisfactory productivity for assigned tasks.
  • Complete all required paperwork including labor reporting and documentation of quality control and material movement, with guidance from supervisor.
  • Perform required Preventative Maintenance activities as directed by supervisor.
  • LO/TO of every job assigned and reviewed with crew.
  • Own basic tooling for the position, including open and boxed end wrenches from 1/4 - 1", 3/8" and 1/2" ratchet and socket sets, air impacts (3/8" and 1/2"), screwdriver sets, hammers, sledges, and a Fluke 87 volt ohm meter, at a minimum.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor/management.
Qualifications
  • Must have a mechanical aptitude.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver license and a driving record that complies with WPI insurance requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Effective communication skills (listening and comprehension).
  • Basic knowledge of a 4-cycle natural gas engine and its components.
  • Knowledge and experience with tooling, hand and pneumatic.
  • Understanding of safety aspects when handling tools and working around natural gas engines and compressors.
  • Basic mechanical principles and mathematics.
  • Proficiency in computer skills (basic operation, Windows, and Microsoft Office).
