Job summary

Caltrans seeks an entry-level Junior Engineering Technician to join a field survey crew under supervision. You will learn and perform routine survey duties in both field and office settings, assisting with data collection, note keeping, and sketches.

Work closely with the Party Chief and crew to set points, measure distances, and establish elevations using standard survey tools; you will mark stakes according to calculations.

Qualifications

• Entry-level trainee member of a field survey crew under supervision.
• Learn and perform routine sub-professional survey duties in field or office settings.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating state vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Assist with data collection, note keeping and field sketches.
• Set points, measure distances and establish elevation points using survey equipment.
• Mark survey stakes and place construction stakes based on survey calculations.
