Job summary

Alabama Power is seeking a Survey Specialist (Field) to perform field land surveying, operate and maintain surveying equipment, and ensure accurate data collection for mapping projects. The role requires coordination with field crews, landowners, and agencies, plus compiling survey notes and GPS data.

The candidate should have deep knowledge of survey calculations, data processing, and CAD drafting, with Alabama licensure progression within five years and a valid Alabama driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Alabama Professional Land Surveyor license or ability to obtain within 5 years.
• Extensive knowledge of survey calculations is required.
• Experience in survey data collection and processing is highly preferred.
• Experience in GPS data collection and processing is highly preferred.
• Land Survey CAD drafting experience is highly preferred.
• Alabama Driver's License; DOT certification required upon employment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field land surveying activities and operate surveying equipment.
• Collect and edit survey data for accurate mapping of projects.
• Prepare and review land survey notes and documentation.
• Coordinate GPS data gathering and processing across teams.
• Communicate with field crews, land owners, corporations, and agencies.
• Research land rights and relevant legal documents; support data compilation.
• Perform demanding physical labor daily in various weather conditions.
