Job summary

DLZ Corporation is seeking a Field Surveyor / Party Chief in Waterford, Michigan. You will conduct field surveys, set up survey grids, and operate advanced instruments to collect accurate data for civil construction projects.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, an associate degree in surveying-related fields, and experience with Leica/Trimble systems. Occasional overtime and travel may be required; strong safety and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
• Associates degree or higher in Surveying & Mapping, Civil Technology, or Civil Engineering is useful.
• Experience with field surveys and construction surveying preferred.
• Ability to operate survey instruments and interpret plans.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field surveys (topographic, boundary, utility) to determine locations and relate to right-of-way lines.
• Lay out grids, establish horizontal and vertical controls, and prepare survey sites.
• Operate robotic total stations, data collectors, GPS, and laser scanners to collect field data.
• Interpret construction plans and perform layout and calculations in the field.
• Create legible, accurate field notes and upload/download data files.
