Job summary

MacKay, in partnership with Lowe Engineers, seeks an Instrument Man to support survey field crews on land development and infrastructure projects. The role emphasizes data collection, equipment operation, and precise field documentation, with hands-on responsibilities under the Survey Crew Chief.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, up to two years of surveying experience, and a valid driver’s license. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors and in a team setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0–2 years surveying experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of surveying principles.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Support Survey Crew Chief with daily field operations and data collection.
• Operate and maintain survey equipment including total stations, GPS units, and data collectors.
• Set up and break down survey instruments and ensure proper calibration.
• Collect and record field data accurately and efficiently.
• Mark points, stake locations, and assist with construction layout activities.
• Maintain clear field notes and documentation.
• Transport equipment to and from job sites.
• Follow safety policies and field procedures.
