Job summary

Timmons Group is seeking a Survey Instrument Operator to join our Survey Group at the Wilmington, NC office. You will assist Land Surveyors and Party Chiefs by applying civil engineering and surveying principles in the field.

Responsibilities include data collection for boundaries and design surveys, operating field instruments, staking construction points, maintaining equipment, and periodic travel. A practical, team-focused approach and solid math skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret safety rules and manuals.
  • Ability to read survey and engineering drawings.
  • Proficient in trigonometry and geometry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team with good time management.

Responsibilities

  • Collects data for boundaries, location, topographical, and design surveys.
  • Operates robotic total station, level, GPS receivers and data collectors in field surveys.
  • Sets points on construction stakeout projects.
  • Performs daily maintenance and upkeep of instruments.
  • Makes sketches and records measurements for control points.
  • Assists in maintenance of survey equipment, supplies, and vehicle.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
