Job summary

Timmons Group is seeking a Survey Technician/Senior Survey Technician to join our Survey Group in Charlotte, NC. The role supports land surveying by preparing plats, staking maps, and topographic surveys, and by applying surveying principles and techniques.

The ideal candidate has a degree in Land Surveying or Geomatics or 3 years of field experience, with GPS and 3D scanning being a plus. Excellent communication and the ability to read complex documents are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Associate degree or 3 years of survey field experience.
• Experience with GPS and 3D laser scanning is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, project budgets, plats and drawings.
• Ability to read deed descriptions, title reports, and aerial mapping.

• Drafts subdivision plats, boundary surveys and easement plats.
• Prepares staking maps for subdivisions, infrastructure and site plans.
• Prepares cutsheets and construction take-offs.
• Drafts topographical surveys and creates digital terrain models.
• Performs limited courthouse research.

• Works closely with the project manager and group leader.
• May substitute in the field when necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills/Requirementsof a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

• Bachelor or Associate degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, Geography, Geospatial Information Sciences or related field or a minimum of three years of progressive survey field experience
• Experience working with GPS and 3D laser scanning a plus
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, scope of services, project budgets, jurisdictional platting & submittal requirements, and procedure manuals
• Ability to read deed descriptions, title reports, zoning reports, survey plats, DOT plans, engineering drawings, and aerial topographic mapping
• Ability to understand and follow instructions
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as trigonometry and geometry
