Job summary

CBG Surveying in the Greater Austin area is seeking a skilled Land Surveyor Instrument Operator to join our field team. You will set up and operate survey instruments, gather precise data, and support construction staking and boundary surveys under the Survey Crew Chief.

The role requires physical outdoor work, attention to detail, and the ability to work with Carlson SurvCE and total stations. Prior experience of 2+ years and a high school diploma are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of survey-related experience preferred.
• Knowledge of field survey methods and equipment.
• Read and interpret subdivision plats and plans.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate total stations to collect survey data.
• Perform traverses, data reduction, and level calculations.
• Execute COGO functions (inverse, resection, line staking).
• Read plans and legal descriptions and assist with boundary surveys.
