Job summary

Bowman Consulting in Austin, TX is seeking a Survey Instrument Operator I to join our team. You will operate survey instruments and perform surveys under supervision, supporting boundary, topography, ALTA, and right-of-way projects for public and private clients.

This entry-level role requires travel and outdoor work in varying weather. You will maintain equipment, perform data collection, and contribute to accurate data while adhering to established procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; relevant experience considered.
• College or technical courses in mathematics and surveying.
• Entry level position; no prior experience required; any survey or construction experience is a plus.
• Familiar with boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS land title surveys.
• Travel and overtime required.
• Valid US driver's license with a clean record.

Responsibilities

• Set-up and operate survey equipment, including total-station, data collector, level and GPS.
• Perform survey calculations.
• Perform stakeout and locations surveys using applicable survey equipment.
• Maintain survey equipment used and keep survey truck stocked with necessary supplies and tools.
• Make accuracy and calibration checks and adjustments on equipment.
