Amentum is seeking a SATCOM and RF Technician to join the Field Support Team, supporting satellite communication systems, RF equipment (UHF/HF), and SURTASS mission systems.

You will perform Level 2 troubleshooting, configure modems and routers, monitor link performance, and train SURTASS O&M technicians while maintaining thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on SATCOM and RF experience.
• Proficient with X/Ka/Ku bands and test equipment.
• WSC-6 terminal operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Basic networking knowledge: IP fundamentals, VLANs, and subnetting.
• Familiarity with COMSEC devices such as TACLANE (KG-250).
• Navy Electronics 'C' School graduate or related civilian training; Associate degree in related field.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
• Ability to train shipboard technicians and operate in arduous environments.
• Understanding of Navy 3M maintenance and open architecture systems.

Job description

Amentum is seeking a SATCOM and RF Technician to join the Field Support Team supporting satellite communication systems, RF communications equipment (UHF/HF), and SURTASS (Surveillance Towed Array Sensor System) mission systems.

Candidates with Navy IT/ET backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.

Essential Responsibilities

• Perform Level 2 troubleshooting and maintenance for SATCOM and RF systems, including WSC-6 terminals, RF paths, antennas, modems, BUCs, UHF/HF transmitters/receivers, and related equipment.
• Configure satellite modems, WSC-6 components, RF equipment, COMSEC devices (e.g., TACLANE), and IP routers for secure, reliable operations.
• Monitor satellite link performance, detect signal degradation or interference, and apply corrective actions to maintain optimal system functionality.
• Assist in system upgrades, acceptance testing, and configuration verifications.
• Provide technical guidance and training to SURTASS O&M technicians.
• Maintain detailed documentation of troubleshooting, repairs, system configurations, and testing results.

Minimum Qualifications

• Five or more years of hands‑on experience with SATCOM and RF systems, including WSC‑6 terminals, antennas, modems, RF paths, and UHF/HF equipment.
• Strong knowledge of SATCOM fundamentals (X/Ka/Ku/C bands) and proficiency with test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, power meters, and signal generators.
• Skilled in WSC‑6 terminal operation, maintenance, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Basic networking knowledge, including IP fundamentals, VLANs, and subnetting.
• Familiarity with COMSEC devices such as TACLANE (KG‑250) or equivalent.
• Graduate of Navy Electronics “C” School or equivalent civilian technical training; Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and capability to work effectively under pressure, with minimal supervision.
• Ability to train shipboard technicians and operate in arduous environments supporting shipboard deployment cycles.
• Understanding of COTS maintenance, open architecture systems, and Navy 3M maintenance administration.
• Current DoD Secret clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret.
• Valid U.S. passport (or ability to obtain), valid driver’s license, and willingness to obtain an international driving permit if required.
• Ability to pass a mariner’s physical per COMSCINST 6000.1.c and maintain medical fitness.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, or GVF SATCOM credentials.
• Experience with SURTASS systems, including arrays (TL‑29A Twin Line, LFA, CLFA, HFM3) and subsystems such as ICP, UNIX/Linux, Windows, GCCS‑M, GPS, SHF, UHF SATCOM, LOS, HF, secure voice/data systems, KMI, SIPRNET, and ADNS.
• Knowledge of satellite link budgets, beam alignment, interference mitigation, and tactical SATCOM operations.
• Prior experience in civilian or military operational environments.

Compensation Details

$56,000 Minimum
