We are seeking an experienced, highly professional Field Support Engineer to provide onsite technical assistance across client locations. This role functions as "smart hands" onsite, performing hardware installs, troubleshooting, and hands-on IT tasks under the direction of remote engineers. The successful candidate will have strong technical aptitude, excellent communication skills, and a professional, client-facing demeanor.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide onsite IT support under the direction of remote engineering teams.
• Perform hardware installation, troubleshooting, moves/adds/changes, and basic network connectivity testing.
• Rack and stack servers, network switches, firewalls, and other equipment as directed.
• Support cabling tasks (patch cables, verifying connections, labeling, etc.).
• Replace hardware components such as hard drives, memory, and network cards.
• Interface professionally with client IT staff, end users, and vendor partners while onsite.
• Maintain accurate documentation of onsite activities and findings.
• Travel regionally up to 50% of the time, sometimes on short notice.
• Follow all company, site, and client safety protocols and security policies.

Requirements

• 5+ years experience in hands-on IT support roles with onsite responsibilities.
• Experience working in enterprise environments or supporting corporate clients.
• Familiarity with basic networking concepts, hardware configuration, and general IT troubleshooting.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to professionally represent the company onsite with minimal supervision.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regionally as required.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation practices.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. as needed for equipment handling.
• Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar preferred.

Location & Travel

• Home-based in North Carolina (preferred), with regional travel as needed (~50%).
• Some overnight stays may be required.
